Learn the Techniques to Get Your Site to the Top of the SERPs

By Jana Gomaz

Google is one of the most prominent search engines in the world for a reason and that is because they return excellent quality results for every search. Google ensures their searchers get only top notch quality and that is exactly what they expect the sites on page one of their SERPs to do as well. There are many people who have successfully reached the first pages of Google and there are many who will achieve the same thing in the feature and this only proves that it isn't brain surgery. Before you start your journey to the top of the SERPs, though, you need to understand one thing and that is that you will only succeed through persistence. This means that your strategy can be brilliant but you won't see any results unless you keep at it. In this article we will be looking at a few things you can do to improve your Google rankings.

You need to do your best to get inbound links from sites that have .edu in their domain because Google considers them excellent quality. It's really not that difficult to get .edu backlinks to your website if you look around. These backlinks are considered to be so important because the source they originate from is educational in nature and is also trusted.

Quality content written in proper English, with good grammar and spelling, is essential in Google's eyes and this is something a lot of people don't know. Yes, you actually get points for writing content that isn't badly structured or uses poor English. Google is big on relevance and quality, which is why, how your content written also matters. There are many websites, unfortunately, that are quite good but their content is written poorly and as a result they never get to the top. Thus, it is imperative that you check the grammar and spelling of your content before putting it up.

It's a good idea to use hyphens to space out the keywords in your URL. It will make it easier to rank the page in question for a particular key phrase because it will show Google what you want to rank for.

Being considered a reputable site by the big G is important and one way to do this is to limit the number of links from your site to others. The reason is that every link you have heading out can reduce your page rank and pass it on to the other page, which will hurt you. Also, remember that an authority site will always have more links heading in than going out because it provides quality information. If you really do want to include outgoing links on your site then make sure you put a cap on it, and only have those links that hold importance. Taking care of little details is one of the most important factors if you want to reach the first page of the SERPs. While limited SEO experience in terms of Google won't squash your chances, you still can't expect to succeed right away as it will take a little time, but don't worry because you will get there in the end.
