How to Have a Panda Friendly Website

By Brigid Shelton

Before you work on any SEO strategies for your website, be sure you're working with changes that will be Panda friendly. There's no point whining about how those changes ruined your rankings, so just knuckle down and work on fixing any elements you need in order to see results again. When you're trying to work out your course of action, you'll logically run into a few gray areas. Of course, there is plenty of information out there that Google has been open about. Google does tend to release blog posts outlining what you can do to improve your efforts. For those of you who already use Google Webmaster, this can be great for showing you precisely what you're doing wrong to be penalized in the rankings. This article will look at three things you can do to increase the Panda friendliness of your site.

Finally, Google is really serious about these new changes now. While they may have discussed making changes, they only put some of these into effect and didn't really enforce them. However, now those changes have arrived, it's time to look at ways to tweak your site so it's Panda friendlier.

Think about turning some of your under-performing articles into lists instead. Articles with titles like "5 Tips to..." or "7 Best Ways to..." have long been the most popular on article directories. It's fine to use this type of list format, but still make sure the content you offer is interesting and engaging. Of course, you won't have any luck at all if you write an article that doesn't offer much or just lists down points without explanations. Other websites are more likely to link to interesting list-style articles. Just ensure that not all your articles are the same, but vary them a bit.

Monitoring your site's bounce rate gives Google a good indication whether your site offers relevant content to your visitors or not. The bounce rate measures how many people land on your home page and the leave again without visiting any other pages. You'll see this figure shown in percentage form, and a lower figure is always better. You can reduce this percentage by finding ways to encourage visitors to dig deeper into other pages within your site. You should find there are plenty of ways to encourage this, which also means you have control over your overall bounce rate.

Making your site Panda friendly is one of the easier things to do in life. Once you know what Google wants and what you have to do, then it's just business as usual or should be.
